October 20, 2007 (Competition Day)
Greeting from the Boss! (When my wife is not around) Good
luck to the Marching Band in competition. You’ve met the challenge in mastering
the many skills and demands of our 2007 “Lookin’ Latin” Show. You and
your advisors have painfully “crossed all the “T’s” and dotted all the “I’s”.
The many hours of practice are now to culminate in the production of a “First
Class” show. Tonight
is “Opening Night!” As the curtain opens, remember you are all on
stage. At 6:55 pm, when the lights go up, shine with the best, and be assured
that I’ll be here performing every note and move with you from start to finish. Thursday
the surgeon removed 25 staples from my left leg…one.. at a time. I think I’ll
save them, just in case the budget fails and supplies become scarce. Last night,
my wife delivered about 2 pounds worth of cards and well wishes. Again…my
continued thanks. The
good news…the announcement that I may be discharged next Wednesday for
rehabilitation at home. News like this…very sweet! A hospital
stay of 20 days is quite enough. Finally,
Friday evening around 4:30 pm, the hospital was put on an “Elevated Terror
Alert” as 20 teenagers and adults stormed the hallways of JFK Hospital.
I’m surprised the hospital administrators did not call in the SWAT Team! This
band of bandits ended their mission at my room and surprised me with Get
Well and Birthday Gifts. The beautiful custom “tiger wood” baton set will be
saved for my next concert, and then displayed in a prominent place as a reminder
of the thoughtfulness of my students. What I enjoyed most was their company and
Cheerful attitude. Thanks and GOOD LUCK! KH If you would like to drop Mr. Hunt a note you can use this link.
